L’aria che ha corso sull’oceano per mille miglia si insinua con leggerezza giocosa nel fogliame della foresta insulare. Calda, piacevole, costante, il vento solleva il suono delle onde, lo porta nell’aria e lo sparge intorno, facendolo girare e avvolgere nei morbidi frangersi del mare al chiaro di luna. Sopra, le stelle scintillano tra le palme, mentre grilli discreti cuciono la trama della sera con il loro coro quasi impercettibile. La quiete e il calore di questo ambiente isolato invitano all’introspezione e offrono tregua dal ritmo della vita urbana. Il senso della notte è intenso, ideale per evocare l’umore creativo della mezzanotte in qualsiasi momento del giorno. Questa traccia è pura ambience, senza primo piano né distrazioni, ideale per lavorare, leggere e studiare. Equatorial Midnight consists of the exact same elements as the older track Moonlight - wind, rustling palm fronds, waves and crickets. Both tracks also are ambient noise only with no foreground. But, the focus here is night noise where Moonlight is more about white noise. Here, it sounds more like the recording was set in the forest than the beach itself, with the crickets much more prominent than in Moonlight (though not at all overpowering). In general, the sense of a total environment is stronger in this track due to the fact that each of the sonic elements is much more distinct than in Moonlight. In Moonlight they tend to blend together unless you deliberately try to focused on one. There is also a strong sense of depth and space here, with ascending layers of waves (sounding from somewhere blow and distant), crickets surrounding you, palms rustling above, and the wind alone above that. This track also seems to be good for masking noise, and makes it one of the few such tracks that does feature complex detail rather than focusing mainly on one sonic element, such as wind or water.
