The Dreaming Phase

By Naturespace · 8 reviews ·

A counterpart to The Liquid Phase, this track was recorded in the same place, but many hours later, and with different microphone techniques. There is a much stronger sense of the retreat of the wave back into the sea as thousands of rocks tumble around in the huge surf. It is hypnotic and highly visual as the swells build and collapse, stretching right up to your bare feet. A big powerful sound that is very pleasant, this track is best listened to with headphones. For speakers, we recommend The Liquid Phase instead.

I was torn between buying this one or the Liquid Phase. I prefer my waves to be large surf rather than lapping water or low waves. I chose this over the Liquid Phase mostly because of the redolent fizz in this track which gives me a greater sense of movement than the constant pounding of the other one. The Liquid Phase seems higher in white noise whereas this one has a nice long motion of rolling in, crash, recede and pause which suits my mind better. My only problem was getting a natural breathing rhythm while listening to this because each wave is quite long in duration and it's difficult to time your breathing to it. But I find sleep comes easily with this one at the end of a long stressful day.

Although recorded on the same beach, the Dreaming Phase is notably different from the Liquid Phase. The waves have the same slow, foamy quality and continue in a hypnotic tone, but they vary a little more as if slowly building in intensity and gradually retreating. At the end of the closer waves you can hear a gentle bubbling as the water retreats, and at some point you hear a small; distant bird, although it is not a seagull. On headphones the waves gradually shift, converging around you as if you are standing on a point of beach with ocean on three sides. Very nice.

Love it all. Recordings are the best on the web.

It is exactly like the name, it's very dreamy, like you are dreaming about the ocean waves. Beautiful track. The only thing I didn't quite like was that at some points it was too soft, and I could hardly hear anything, and when I brought the volume up, it would be too loud when the bigger waves came. Nonetheless, it's still very beautiful. More calm and relaxing than infinite shoreline

This is a phenomenal track, I absolutely love it. It is so beautiful, otherworldly and holographic it seems to transport you to another place.

This is a very peaceful ocean track. It is as though the ocean is trying to be very gentle when coming onto the beach. Even when a larger wave comes to shore it doesn't crash but more so dissipates back into sea. Probably the most gentle of the ocean scenes.
