200トン対1万馬力――その交差は、シンプルにすごい。全米各地の貨物列車がダイヤモンドクロッシングを縦横に行き交い、1本が抜けると次の列車がすぐに入ってくる。18本の貨物列車が次々とすれ違い、総計およそ3,600トンの質量が18万馬力で動いている。 車両がレールを渡るたび、音は鮮やかな色となってあふれ出し、グラフィティのように空間へ広がる。鋭いホーンが次のディーゼル機関車の接近を知らせる。広く伸びるレールは列車の速度に応じて音程を変え、金属の車輪が鋼の上に触れながら、弓のように響きを引き出す。 列車の進行方向は交互に切り替わり、左から右への流れがしばらく続いたあと、右から左へと移る。この往復が、意識にほどよい変化を与え、創造的な思考を刺激する。 本トラックは非常に長く、密度が高く、力強い。時間とともに変化があり、複数の大きなホーン音を含むため、睡眠には向かない。良質なヘッドホンやスピーカーで、そのスケールを無理なく感じ取れる。一方で、音量を抑えれば、オフィスのざわめきや近隣の騒音をやわらかく覆い隠す用途にも適している。

This track! It’s become one of my favorites in the train series. I love the sound of the engines, the horns and the cars going along the track. I miss hearing this sound as I’ve moved from a place that no longer has such sounds. Growing up I lived close to train tracks so this sound was a part of my daily life. I would only hear these sounds during times I would visit home, but now three hours away I can hear this familiar favorite sound anywhere and anytime! Thanks for for this train sound. And I also love how each horn sounds different as well. You’ve captured my heart completely with this one!!
