Star Reflections

By Naturespace · 10 reviews ·

North woods lake at night. Soft wind-driven waves push against the land, with a small contingent of crickets behind you. Supremely peaceful but active, the wind keeps the scene alive. Open skies are hidden by the trees above you, but the stars are clearly out in all their splendor, revealed by their reflections on the black water, which is a little too cold to go in. Good thing you brought the chair. Listening too loud lessens the realism.

This would be a great recording - if it weren’t for the fact that it is looped at about 70 seconds. The loop is recognizable by a faint squeaking in the distance (hoot ... hoot hoot), which at first may not be recognizable, but with repetition (every 70 seconds) becomes outrageously annoying.

This is a great track to fall asleep to. I find it masks the television sounds very well. The waves washing onto shore are very calming. The background insect song is light. When I want to sit beside a lake's shore without the hassle of traveling to one, I listen to this. Also great is the track "Night at Lake Unknown".

If you are looking for a soft, gentle, lush water sound, plain and simple, then this will please you as it does me too. At first I choose Moosejaw Creek, but that one was too bubbly for me. Star reflections is a truly relaxing and refreshing track.

This was one of the last of the night tracks that I downloaded because I was uncertain whether or not I'd like it. I'm glad that I did because I find it very peaceful. The foreground is a water sound, not really in wave patterns but not strong enough to pass as a river either. Perhaps the lake is a bit turbulent because of the wind that occasionally picks up (never enough to sound fierce). A cricket trills fairly steadily throughout the background. My one complaint is that there is a single odd noise in the background at some point, almost like a lone goose honk. It's not very loud and it took me a while of listening to the track to notice it, but because it's the only noise in the track that isn't either water, wind or crickets, it makes it obvious once you catch it that the loop is really short. Other than that, there wouldn't of been anything noticeable. This is a small complaint since the noise is very subtle and easy to ignore even after you notice it. I find myself returning to this place often, regardless of this small issue.

I love the peacefulness of this sound track. But I notice that we (my son and i) appreciate it more with the head phone enhance turn on then when we use it with out it. I love the way it helps my autistic son fall sleep with so much ease.

This track is very relaxing. It's mostly water gently moving with any other sounds so low they go mostly unnoticed.

Quite similar to "Night at Lake Unknown", but far more about the water and less about the wind and insects. Very subtly underscored by distant crickets and a light breeze, the water laps gently all around you, almost as though you are on a pier or a raft in a slow moving river. The breeze occasionally picks up ever so slightly, and each time it does, the water turns more trickly and a night bird calls almost inaudibly from the woods on the shore. This is a very peaceful scene if you like a calm night at the lakefront, or a lazy drift along a woodland stream.

This track is soothing with water steadily, but gently, lapping against the shore, a mild breeze blowing through the trees, and crickets softly chirping in the distance. I picture myself in a cabin on the edge of a lake in late summer, or early fall.

Cool night, late, feels like late September to mid-October or very early summer due to the light sound of the crickets and the gentle breezes that briefly strengthen from time to time through the tree foliage. The rhythmic lapping of the water is lovely and the strongest element on the recording. There is the feeling of being on the edge of a goodly sized lake, with water stretching off in front of you and to both sides. It almost feels like you could wade out and dive under the small waves under the earbuds. Over speakers, it sounds like you live on a lake and have the windows or porch door open to the night breeze.
