Goðafoss - Soft and Wide

By Naturespace ·

In the midst of ancient lava fields, the oncoming ice cold water from Vatnajökull, the largest glacier in Iceland, arches over the precipice and into the enormous swirling pool below, its color a startling azure against the surrounding black stones and orange sulfuric deposits. Shaped like an immense horseshoe, the spectacular Goðafoss is otherworldly and remarkably beautiful, with a long and interesting history. This track was recorded at the edge of a cliff looking down onto the falls. With two distinct sections of falling water, Goðafoss is very wide and stereo when used with headphones, creating an added sense of space to the steady action of the frigid river. Light snow silently falls through the mist, creating an aerial ballet of white snowflakes and iridescent water droplets. The natural amphitheater of the surrounding geology projects the sound forward as the wind, softly pulling and shifting, carries it through the air
