Aegir

The Giant, King of the Sea. Worshipped and feared by sailors, he would appear on the surface to take ships, men, and cargo to his hall at the bottom of the ocean. Waves pound against the hull of the ship that creaks slowly as it progresses northward into the storm. Best with good headphones. Aegir is unique in that it takes place on a giant wooden sailing vessel. The ship creaks as it rolls through the waves, with many large ones breaking over the deck of the ship. Rain and wind are constant, and the motion of the ship is felt as the horizon bobs in and out of view. Thunder is not the main focus here, it is more about the overall experience of being at sea during a storm.
What listeners say
I use this track to fall asleep every night!
I have had this track for a very long time, and it has never disappointed me, every time I listen to it, I feel like I’m a pirate on a ship, helping my crew do whatever we can to get through the storm. I have a YouTube playlist that I have added to over the years called the voyage, which is a collection of pirate inspired music and sea shanty, and it fits perfectly with this track. I do wonder something though, is it possible that we can have a more calm track, the same elements of the wooden ship and the waves, but without the storm? Something similar to the sailing track in the island category, but instead, it’s a wooden ship? I’ve listened to the sailing prologue track, and there is just something missing, I can’t quite put my finger on it, it just doesn’t feel or sound real, this track though, is perfect. As always, I’m looking forward to new tracks in the future.
This is by far my most favourite track. The raging tempest, the creaking wood, the wind shuddering in the sails. Love it. It's powerfully evocative and a very different and wonderful track to have. Nothing feels cosier than lying safe and warm in bed listening to this kind of storm. But I'm biased, I grew up on boats, I love the sea, ocean travel is my most favourite thing ever. If you have any love of ocean travel it's a must have track. Much more evocative than just a thunder or storm track on land. You can actually hear the vessel listing in the water. Amazing. Worth the higher price. I'm hoping for more unusual tracks like this in the future.
If you were only willing to purchase one track from Naturespace and asked me which one I would recommend, it would be a tough choice between Aegir, Eternal Reign, and Camping in the Rain (so just do like I do and buy 'em all, haha). This is what so many sailors and pirates throughout the centuries fell asleep to night after night while on the open seas in a storm. This is a real wooden ship in the midst of a powerful storm. I like to imagine that I am the captain of this Man O' War searching for pirates while I am drifting off to sleep. Silly, I know, but this track will make a believer out of you. Once (and sadly only once), I "felt" my bed rock as if it were on the sea and "felt" it shake with each boom of thunder. While obviously occurring all in my head, it was one of the most amazing experiences that I've ever fallen asleep to. I cannot possibly recommend Aegir enough.
Perfect sounds for sleeping and enhancing dreams that are easily recalled ...
I love the way the Thunder is toned down in this one as there is plenty else going on ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Whoa ... This track really took me out to sea in a storm. So realistic! The howling winds, the rough seas rocking us about, the creeking wood of our boat, and the water hitting us and coming aboard ... For a moment there, I thought we weren't going to make it! LOL. Great job NatureSpace.
This is my favorite track. Whoever came up with the idea to record this is a genius.
This track is so dreamy. I feel like I'm floating when I listen to this. I think it's perfect to listen to before bed or while you want to fall asleep. It's so easy to listen to.
I was curious about this track and it blew me away. I have downloaded multiple tracks for sleep and this one has becomes go-to track. The contrast of being safe under your covers while you hear the waves crash onto the boat is so relaxing and hypnotic. Kudos to naturespace for this creative track!
This track is amazing. It's the only track in my collection that allows me to lucid dream. Every time I play this, I have the most realistic dreams ever and wake up extremely refreshed. I've never experienced it before.
I bought Thundergod and this track was included. Although I like this soundscape, it does not bring me to the sea, because I don't hear water. Sorry to say, but the wind can be used as a desrt wind too: it sounds too dry and too polished. Nevertheless I like listening to this track.
A heavy rainstorm with moderate thunder, at sea on a huge wooden boat that creaks occasionally. Waves crash on the deck. There's a lot going on, but it blends together into an active but relaxing mix. I listen to this when I have a migraine, and it's a nice sound that I feel blocks out other noise but is at a pitch that doesn't hurt my head. One of my favorites.
Wow I think I just had the best night sleep in ages thanks to this track and I don't feel sickly from sleep which I often do. Very relaxing but I think it keeps your mind just right so you don't go into a coma like sleep state. I feel great.
This is the most impressive, creative track! Thank you.
This is my second review about the sounds from naturespace, they really know what they're doing, this is another amazing track from the thunderstorm series, the water splashing on hull sounds like its on my face and creaking of the hull with the addition of thunder and the blowing of the wind makes this track awesome, puts me right to sleep, thanks NATURESPACE for a job well done..again.
Think of tall ships 150 years ago, their wooden hulls straining under the weight of a storm. Think of pirates and danger, adventure and romance. If there was ever a recording to stir the imagination, this is it!
This is my all time favorite. You can really imagine yourself far out to sea on this boat. Amazing.
By far my favorite track. So perfect for drifting off. Listened to it on a redeye flight and was amazed. The track plus the motion of the plane was incredible. Highly recommended.
This tracks the best and I haunt even herd them all, it gives you a feel of that gloomy creepy feel like the goonies when their in the attack and talking about pirates
Aegir is the third track in the Thundergod series. It is unique in that it takes place on a giant wooden sailing vessel. The ship creaks as it rolls through the waves, with many large ones breaking over the deck of the ship. Rain and wind are constant, and the motion of the ship is felt as the horizon bobs in and out of view. Thunder is not the main focus here, it is more about the overall experience of being at sea during a storm.
Love these sounds...I have tried several but these work the best !!!! ...especially if u have surround sound or if u have neighbors with annoying barking dogs at midnight, just reach over and turn on this app. I love it. If u want quality, spend the money it's worth every penny.
Simply amazing. From the very first time I listened I was hooked. I love water and rain and this makes me almost feel the thunder. I wish I could. Definitely get this if u want a gentle ride on a boat while thunder rolls nearby but not too heavily. The light creaking of the boat is amazing.
Simply wonderful and calming ! Reminds my husband and I of being in the middle of the Atlantic on our favorite cruise ship with the ocean sounds.....very relaxing !
Aegir is such a wonderful track! I'm a huge Pat O'Brien fan so I bought the track to listen to while reading his books, Master and Commander, for example, but now I find myself listening to it to fall asleep at night. The creaking and groaning of the wooden hull of the ship, mixed in with the sound of the waves and the water...I felt like I was rocking back and forth myself!!
This was one of my early purchases, probably the one that got me addicted. This track is one of my favorites to sleep to. It's so cool how much subtle detail you can hear.
Loving both waves and thunderstorms, I had to try this track. This is one of my favorites. Unlike the ocean tracks, the waves completely surround you in Aegir. You can feel the motion of their swell. The boat creaks and groans around you, but never enough to become distracting. Much of the thunder is rolling, complementing the sound of the waves perfectly. This track is also the only one I’ve listened to yet that features a whipping, whistling quality to the wind. Both dynamic and (surprisingly) relaxing.
This is my favorite recording so far (also have Tears of Asgard, The Cloud Forest, and of course the free stuff.) The vast ocean swells underneath you as you fall asleep listening to the wood creek below you while distant thunder rumbles. This is usually what I use to fall asleep, I love the space it puts you in.
Gorgeous. Helps me to fall asleep at night. I can actually feel the ship rocking when I'm lying in bed. Not frightening, just intense enough.
Wow....I am sooo glad I downloaded this, this is an awesome place to go and experience. The sounds...rain, thunder, ocean waves near and far are crystal clear and very 3D. I've always wanted to be on a pirate ship in a storm and now I can close my eyes.......dream away. Love the faint sounds of the creaking wood....extremely believable.
Quite possibly one of my favorite tracks. Steady medium rainfall pulls you into a windy scene of an old creaky boat facing the ocean waves and lashes of rain during a storm. Low rumbling thunder in the distance. Great relaxing track!
This is a great track. High quality. If you like the idea of being on a wooden ship in a storm this is for you.
This track is a favorite. Sailing aboard a huge wooden ship in a vast ocean. The storm is approaching and I hear the ship creaking under the strain of the wind. Huge waves pound the hull, very exciting and convincing. Gentle thunder and waves with a bit of wind. The ocean spray on the deck of ship is a great sound.
