The name is and chanting, but there are too many flies for my liking. I don't like insects. The bird song is nice, but I have many other tracks with even nicer Birdsong. And the flies make this track one that I wouldn't have purchased, had I known that there would be so many flies in the sound effects.
This one is beautifully recorded. There are a lot of layers to this. Birds, water, insects, all coming in and out of the mix. Definitely a sonic treat. I highly recommend this purchase.
This track has good ambience and seems lively; however, I feel like it's too repetitive. The bird overhead sounds like a broken record. I don't mind the insects as much as the other reviewers do - I feel they add a realistic touch to the recording. I can also tell each time the loop starts. There is that distinct sound or rattling in the bushes that makes it too obvious. The track seems fairly short. It's a good track to add but the repetitive nature of it and the short loop make it distracting to meditate to.
This is a wonderful forest scene except for the insects. They seem almost constant and one fly or bee sounds like it is buzzing around my head and then lands in my hair! I don't enjoy that part at all. Other than that I love the chipmunks trilling to each other, some of the distant birds and the wind sweeping overhead in the trees. But I think I much prefer the Sanctuary Island forest tracks over this one. (Naturespace comment: try listening at a lower volume, this is a quiet place. Bugs that seem too close are an indicator that you are listening to it louder than it was when it was happening.)
There is a buzzing fly sound that moves from ear to ear -- it, coupled with one loud bird, is very unrelaxing to me. It's a complex sound, and I appreciate it for that, but I can't get over the annoying fly or the singular chirping bird to be in the moment and not feel like I need to swat.
I have bought many of these, and this is easily my favorite. I live in Oregon, and this sounds like I am hiking through one of the forests here. So realistic. Doesn't sound 'mixed'. Great, really nice.
This sounds like an afternoon in a very thick, old forest. Various birds sing from the trees, and there is a bit of a wind, but the canopy of the trees shields you. Although there is no water to be heard in the track, there is what sounds like a bullfrog once in a while, so perhaps there is a still pond near by. You can also hear the sounds of animals and fluttering birds in the thick undergrowth. Busy insects buzz around - this was the only thing I personally didn't care for about the track. The sound of the insects itself doesn't bother me, but they periodically get close enough to give the impression of a fly buzzing around your head rather than bees happy tending to flowers, so for me this ruins a bit of the peacefulness of the scene.
This track really brings me home. There was a dirt snowmobile/ATV trail not far from where I used to live. This track replicates my afternoon walks down that trail perfectly. The wind is high in the canopies always rustling the leaves with birdsong, two of them close by. There's occasional squirrel chatter in the distance. I thought I heard a chipmunk chirp in there. It's a good sounds-of-the-forest track.
The in-app purchases are addictive! "hansel and gretel" and "stream of consciousness" and two of my favorites. In an office environment, I can actually tune out my coworkers and imagine myself in a much more pleasant place. Thanks for improving this app. It is one of my top choices for ambient listening.
Birds, water, wind. Sound familiar? Yup...the exact same 3 elements as in the previously described track, "Utopia". But that's where the similarity ends. And again, the photograph used to depict this environment, dark dense woods, beautifully depicts the atmosphere. I was surprised that there are no crows in this sound track. I guess between the title and the photograph I was predicting that there would be crows. The water sound in this track is less present here--more distant and off to the right side. At times it's hard to distinguish it from the sound of the wind, which blows more constantly throughout this track in a series of gusts that move through the trees. In fact, I'm not 100% sure there is any water in this track. Maybe that's all just wind? The wind here in this dense wood sounds a bit harsher when it gusts causing a slightly higher pitched rattle as it moves through the thick forest canopy. There is the sound of a small critter rustling through the dry leaves on the forest floor very close to you--either a squirrel or a curious bird. A very cool, but too brief, sound effect that adds a lot of color to this complex environment. There is also a fly in this one, but unlike "Utopia", this fly is clearly attracted to something (the listener?) as he makes quite a few fly-bys and circles around your head. Then there's the birds. Several twitter and chatter in the distance, but there are two birds that dominate this track. I call them Heckle and Jeckle. They are not crows, but they are quite loud and shrill. One of them sits just a few feet directly above you while the other sits above and more to your left. Heckle (above) makes a one-note call that is piercing. Jeckle (left shoulder) makes a more intricate several-note call that is equally piercing. And there is another really bizarre bird whose call sounds just like one of those metallic noisemakers used at New Year's Eve parties! My Impressions. I like this track, but it is not for everyone. It does have similarities to "Utopia", but this is a somewhat harsher environment, and not nearly as relaxing. The mixture of sounds is a bit more busy and less equally balanced, with the loud calls of the two birds making this track a far different experience from that of "Utopia". The two birds call constantly throughout the track, they never change positions, they are in very close proximity, very loud, and very shrill. If you turn down the volume enough to make these two birds sound more distant and subtle, you loose a lot of the rest of the sound track. The call of the "noisemaker" bird is actually subtle, in the mid-ground, and only appears a couple of times. I like this environment, but the piercing calls of Heckle and Jeckle are hard on my ears and make the track difficult for me to enjoy for more than a few minutes. If only they had been sitting further away from the microphone. If you love the bird tracks and the wind tracks, then you will mostly likely enjoy this one (there is another similar track in the Sanctuary Island section of the catalog that I will review later!). If you find the bird tracks annoying unless they blend into the background, then you might want to avoid this one.
Birdsong and a light, calm breeze on the left. An occasional buzzing insect cuts across the center path, sometimes lightly buzzing around you. Echo and space under the canopy of the forest, especially to the right. An animal occasionally moves through the underbrush on the right. The repetitive calling of the birds is more lulling than one would suspect at first. A gentle, surrounded by forest feeling on a lazy afternoon.
