Vento di ghiaccio
By Naturespace · 23 reviews ·

My favourite
One of my favorite w the loudest and most forceful high wind sounds in the collection
Very cool! No pun intended
This gives me the sense of standing in a clearing with the trees to the side and rear of me. It had previously rained and all water and wet surfaces turned to ice from the frigid temperatures. There is a fierce wind gusting throughout, rustling the trees and cracking the ice that encases them. There is intermittent howling of the wind. Faint bird chatter can be heard in the distance in between the wind gusts. Sounds great at the right volume.
Although this appears to be a popular sound, I cannot appreciate it. Deleted and downloaded it several times, and still it gives me no associations to cold, but to warm winds, combined with a cracking sound on the left side and a sound that looks like a bicycle dynamo winding up sometimes. I have a wonderful collection of 30 sounds in use and 9 deleted and this is a deleted one, sorry.
While it may seem counter-intuitive, ice wind is best when the volume is very low. Otherwise it sounds like a beach with a campfire. However, this is one of my favourite tracks to sleep to. Remember that scene in the beginning of Doctor Zhivago? Yuri as a child in central Russia, the wind and snow howling outside, and he's listening to a tree branch tap with the rhythm of the wind against the window. the cracking branches and underlying wind melody are all here in 'ice wind', transporting you to a Russian winter - and it makes for very cozy sleeping.
The air conditioning went out. I had a nice fan but needed more to sleep. This track did the trick. In one part of the track, you hear a blizzard like blast of air coming to you from the right. The whoosh of icy air rushing past you cracking that tree next to you on the left cools you down quickly. Y'all did a amazing thing.
Waste ! Sounds like waves at the beach.
Brings back many memories of ski mountaineering trips in BC in my younger years!
I like the cold weather in every way so I had to get this one. I'm impressed on how close to the feel of standing in a winter forest. I even had to remind myself for a moment to relax and not brace myself as I heard the strong wind gust far away and coming through the trees. I hope you have your favorite blanket nearby, your going to need it if your listening to this with the fan on.
I own several of the wind tracks. This one is perhaps the most unique. The feeling is that of being in the North woods in the depths of February. Whether because of the snow or the lack of leaves, the wind sounds a lot more “thick,” it has a deeper sound quality to it. The trees creak, and you can hear the faint sound of the ice in the branches. The wind is relentless and cold, but somehow this track manages to have a relaxing quality to it.
Ice Wind is a surprising sound space, It's dominated by a very strong wind that I expected to be a chiling howling wind, it instead sounds like waves of white noise. It does occasionaly howl but it is distant perhaps high above you in the trees. And the trees groan and crack in a way that reminds me of the dying embers of a fire. While snow falls from the tree branches in a very distinct slush noise. This track is very good at blocking unwanted noise and for falling asleep. While I perfer and would recommened tracks like (Aegir and Legend of Nikola Tesla) over Ice Wind, it's different and full of subtle details that make it unique among the tracks I've listened to so far, (Tears Of Asgard, Cloud Forest, White Water Fall and the free ones.) Worth picking up if your in the mood for something different.
I agree with Andrew. I'm a bit disappointed. I live in Canada so I know a thing or two about winter. This sounds more like waves than a winter wind. Could use more howling. The branches only seem to crack in one location too...off to the left like there is only one tree. Doesn't quite capture it for me.
I downloaded this app this week and think it is one of my favourite apps. You deserve to be profiled on the app store! I have terrible insomnia and found your beach track excellent for sending me off to sleep, so thought I would buy a few more tracks.I also got Legend of Nikolai tesla, and although it is awesome,my headphones don't do it justice.so I am getting new headphones this weekend (I hope!) for my birthday.anyway, but this one is great even on my cheap headphones. I love music but find it quite intrusive at times, but these sounds are amazing.
This doesnt really press my buttons. A 'hush' sound swooping in with a cracking sound. Kind if made me picture a beach with a fire cracking quietly... Oh well, it is still white noise.
Another topnotch recording. I love the fact of how relaxing the wind is. The surges can be a bit distracting at higher volume levels, however for me it's perfect white noise to dround out background noise while studying.
This is an amazing track, VERY VERY. Life like! It does make you colder, the winds are HARSH, but not overbearing, but its not like gentle winter winds.
This is one of my favorite naturespaces. The cracking and rubbing of trees really makes it authentic. You may need a blanket when listening because it really does make you feel colder. This is great for people who love winter.
I love the sound of the wind blowing through the trees... There is no more peaceful time to be in a forest than in the heart of winter. This track is haunting and serene.
As a Colorado girl who now lives in Texas, I find myself missing those cold, snowy nights, and yes, even blizzards, in the winter months when it's in the 70s in south Texas. After reading the reviews for Ice Wind I decided to try it, and when I close my eyes it is easy to be transport back to my home in the country, where I would go outside during a blizzard to feed the horses and would just stand and listen to the awesome power of the wind swirling around me. If you love cold weather, this track is definitely for you.
I grew up in a desert town so a lot of the tracks that have heavy insect/bird sounds don't really speak to me as much as they do to other users. (I go out of my way to avoid the tracks with crickets, for example.) I must recommend to everyone the "Ice Wind" track, however. Ice Wind never fails to give me chills when I listen to it. There is a harsh beauty about it - austere and calming at the same time. For those of you who suffer from headaches and/or insomnia, I suggest you try this track. It has helped me immensely. I would love to see the Winds section include a "desert at night" track. The Mojave would be just the thing for it.
Winter being one of my favorite seasons, I love this one. The clack of the frozen boughs really enhances the feeling - giving the wind an 'icier' edge. You can almost smell the cold and snow.
Ice wind is so unique. It will be mostly calm until off in the distance you can hear the wind coming over the landscape until it completely surrounds you! It moves the trees that are near you and they crack and wood and ice can be clearly heard. Ice wind is so simple in how many elements is has but it took me from calm to wow!
